cags eliminator install

Suggested Installation Instructions for (Skip Shift) CAGS EliminatorThis kit will allow you to disable the Computer Aided Gear Selection (CAGS) feature of your C5 Corvette's 6-speed gearbox. This kit uses genuine Delphi Packard Electric Systems division connectors, plugs and seals to protect your wiring harness and CAGS solenoid to allow you to re-connect the harness for full CAGS function, if you so desire. This kit is designed for use on both the standard MN6 Corvette's 6-speed gearbox and also the M12 Z06 Corvette's 6-speed gearbox. No permanent modifications are required to install this product. NOTE: This kit will prevent the CAGS solenoid from engaging but the "1 to 4" light on the dash will still illuminate when skip shift conditions are met.WARNING: Installation of this product will require that the installer come in close contact with the exhaust system and transmission case. These items can become extremely hot when the vehicle is driven. Allow vehicle time to cool before attempting to install CAGS Eliminator. Use appropriate safety precautions and equipment when installing this product.1. Disconnect your Corvette's negative battery cable from the battery. The stock cable color is black, but you should check the markings on the battery to be certain.2. To gain access to the CAGS solenoid, raise your Corvette as directed by the GM Shop/Owners Manual. Be sure to follow all safety precautions and use jack stands to support the vehicle.3. The CAGS solenoid is located on the drivers' side of the transmission towards the top and rear of the transmission. The wiring harness connector is white and blue in color.4. Gently lift the locking clip and unplug the connector from the solenoid. Make sure the connector and solenoid are clean. Plug the black end of the CAGS Eliminator into the wiring harness. You should hear a snap/click sound when the wiring harness is completely seated. Plug the white end of the CAGS Eliminator into the CAGS solenoid. You should hear a snap/click sound when the connector is completely seated.5. Lower Corvette according to GM Shop Manual procedures.6. Re-connect negative battery cable and test-drive car

Press "gages" to go forward or "fuel" to go back for each code under a module. To exit the diagnostic mode at any time, press "E/M". If you want to erase or "clear" codes, press, "reset."The computer will show two kinds of codes, "current" and "history," designated "C" or "H". A current code indicates a malfunction is present in the system whose module is displaying data. A history code indicates a past problem. You can ignore "U" codes

C5 Unlock Radio Procedure

Here is The following procedure will give you a new code that you can use instead of your personal code. Using this new code, you can “unlock” your radio and then “re-lock” it with a new code if you wish.

Prerequisites: The radio must be in LOC mode NOT in INOP mode. Let me explain. If you have activated the Theft-Deterrent feature of your radio and loose power, the radio goes into LOC (theftlock) mode. With the ignition on, you must use the MN and HR buttons to enter you personal code in order to unlock it (The instructions are on page 3-27 in your Y2K Owner’s manual). If you fail to enter the correct code eight (8) times, the radio goes into INOP mode. You have to wait an hour with the ignition on before the radio returns to LOC mode (go for a long drive somewhere). Procedure: 01. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC) 02. Hold down the Radio Presets 2 and 3 buttons for six seconds 03. The radio display changes from LOC to a three-digit number. Write this number down. Don’t take forever, fifteen seconds max before the next step. 04. Press the AM/FM button 05. The radio display changes to another three-digit number. Write this number to the right of the first one. 06. You now have a six-digit number, the first three digits are from STEP 03 and the last three digits are form STEP 05 07. Call 1 800 537 5140 08. Press 1 then # (pound). You’ll hear “Invalid Code, try again” 09. Press 139010 then # (pound). You will be asked to enter your four or six digit code followed by * (start) 10. Enter the number from STEP 6 then * (star) 11. Listen to the four-digit number and write it down. It will be repeated twice 12. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC) 13. Use the MN and HR buttons to enter the code from STEP 11 14. Press the AM/FM button. The radio display changes to SEC Your radio is now “un-locked” and usable. The Theft-Deterrent feature is STILL active! If you want to disable it, use the instruction on page 3-27 in your Y2K Owner’s manual. Use the code from STEP 11 instead of your personal code.the procedure to unlock your stock stereo

if the 139010 code doesn't work try one of these

C5 Control Module functions

PCM - Powertrain Control Module .... controls the engine (spark, fuel injectors, etc.) and controls the transmission (automatic). Located in engine compartment below battery and behind passenger side wheel.

TAC - Throttle Actuator Control - It is a seperate computer, but is closely linked to the PCM to assist the PCM in managing the throttle plate position motor and sensors. It receives the signals from the accelerator pedal position sensors.

Attached to the PCMEBCM - Electronic Brake Control Module - controls the BPMV (Brake Pressure Modulation Valve) to provide Anti-Lock Braking, Traction Control, and if equipped, Active Handling. It also controls Magnasteer, and depending on Model Year, may also manage functions such as Dynamic Rear Proportioning. 1999 and later cars it is located in engine compartment, driver's side, just forward of engine and low. 1997 and into 1998 it is located in rear of vehicle close to differential.

ESC - Electronic Suspension Controller - if equipped with F45 (Real Time Damping) or F55 (Magnetic Suspension Ride Control) this computer controls the shock absorbers to provide an adjustable ride. Located in left storage "cubby" in rear of vehicle.

BCM - Body Control Module - This computer manages the vehicle alarm system. It is also responsible for managing vehicle lights (Twilight Sentinal) and based on input from the RFA can unlock doors and turn on "approach lights". Located in passenger footwell to the left of the I/P fuse block.

IPC - Instrument Panel Cluster - Controls the gauge displays, the DIC, and the HUD. Located behind gauge cluster.

HVAC - Heater-Ventilation-Air Conditioning - If equipped, maintains cabin temperature in AUTO mode by selecting appropriate amounts of chilled/heated air based on input from sensors (outside air temp, solar sunload, and cabin temp). Located behind HVAC control panel.

LDCM - Left Door Control Module - manages door lock (under command from BCM or driver), window and mirror. Located inside the left door.

RDCM - Right Door Control Module - same functions as LDCM, located inside the right door.

SCM - Seat Control Module - Main function is for storing and commanding seat and mirror positions in vehicles equipped with Memory option. Attached to underside of passenger seat.

RFA - Remote Function Actuation - Radio receiver/transmitter that works with the key fobs. It also manages the Tire Pressure Monitoring system as it receives the pressure data from the sensors in the wheels. Commands the IPC to display warning messages when a tire is low or flat, for example. Located behind driver, in interior of vehicle, behind upper left trim panel in trunk area.

SDM - Sensing and Diagnostic Module - It controls when the airbags are fired, and constantly runs diagnostic checks to be sure the system is working OK. It contains a capaciter that stores enough electricity to fire the bags even if the battery fails in a crash. It also serves as a "black box" capturing and permanently storing the last 5 seconds of vehicle data prior to the crash. Located inside the center area of the dashboard under the HVAC controller

C5 Corvette Secrets

C5 Secrets The little yellow "helper light" on the bottom of the rear-view mirror that illuminates the shifter area

That you can put your key in the driver's door and turn it twice towards the front to unlock the passenger door and a third time to pop the trunk.

That you can pop the trunk and also pop the gas cap cover by pulling on metal lines hidden in the back.

The little slotted cover on the dash behind the steering wheel is where the inside air temperature sensor is located.

All of the option codes are in the glove box.

Tire inflation recommended pressures are on the driver's door

The thing that looks like a little LED near the DIC buttons is a light sensor

The thing that looks like a little LED near the defroster vent is a UV sensor for determining A/C usage to compensate for the heating effect of the sun

The build sheet is in the front re-bar

If you leave your turn signal on, in about 1 minute it will start to ding (loud enough to hear over the stereo) to let you know you have old timers disease.

You can reset the oil life by pumping the gas pedal 3 times (but not with the engine running)

Hold down the reset button while on one of the trip odometers and it changes that reading to the miles you've traveled since last starting the engine.

Hold down the Active Handling button for 5 sec. to engage "Competitive Driving" on cars equipped with active handling (2000 and previous years must be stopped.)

If you pull the seatbelts all the way out while you're buckled in, they ratchet back in to hold you tighter into the seat.

Simply remove fuse #2 under the hood and your DRLs will be out permanently. Only thing affected is that when you unlock at night using the key fob your front turn signal lights and back up lights will not will not flash. Your front turn signals will operate normally, however.

The side-view mirrors can twist both forward and backward, decreasing the chance of damage if struck.

There is a release opening with a flap to let air out of the car when the hatch is closed. It is located just above the driver side rear compartment, behind the carpet and on the side of the car. Not that it really works well.

Also you can ground your amp to a screw/bolt that holds the rear middle compartment to the frame.

If you have a 6-speed car you can pop the trunk when the car is running by lifting the e-brake.

There is a spot on the driver side just out of the middle compartment under the carpet for the lug nut key. You should have a compartment on the drivers & passengerÂ's side (in the trunk) and a center compartment. On the left (drivers) side of the center compartment, on the left side where the center cover fits, there is an 'indent' that holds the wheel lock key.

If you turn on the headlights, then go to parking light position, the lamps remain up but the headlights are not left on.

If you have the passive entry feature: If you lock your keys in the car, wait a few minutes and then shake the car. That will unlock the car.

HUD has a shift light for manuals.

You can easily shift the M6 trans up or down without the clutch if you match revs. (Not great for longevity, however.)

You can eject the cd from the in-dash player without turning on any power. Don't even need key in the ignition.

The cruise will disengage if you purposely make sharp side to side turns while cruising at say 60-80 mph.

When the engine is shut off, you can get the odometer reading by turning on the parking lights.

You can program setting #3 (both memory buttons atonce) in the seat memory to run the seat back and steering wheel forward for getting in/out of the car with the engine running.

If you hate DRLs you can pull the e-brake ONE click and they go off
